From there it moves on to consider the following topics in as many sections: a biographical profile, Poe as a writer of short stories and poems, his role in creating detective fiction within the context of the modern short story, the recognition accorded him in France by Baudelaire and Mallarmé and, finally, Poe’s presence in Spain with a special emphasis on his tale “The Spectacles” and Mesonero Romanos’ “El amante corto de vista”.
